
However a day before the rights to the book were purchased, the author sold the film rights to DreamWorks SKG. Wilson sold his second book, Robocalypse to Doubleday. Nickelodeon Movies optioned Bro-Jitsu before its publication, and Wilson was hired to write the screenplay. The first option was later re-optioned by Steve Pink and Jack Black in October 2010. Unfortunately, these two options expired. The same movie company also considered a How to Build Robot Army for possible adjustment. For example, How to Survive a Robot Uprising, a book that Wilson published during his final year of graduate school was optioned for adaptation into a film by Paramount Pictures. Over five Wilson’s books have been optioned for film adaptations. Wilson was a featured guest of honor during the Capricorn 33 sci-fi convention held in Chicago. Robopocalypse was an LA Times bestseller, New York Times bestseller and also a winner of Alex Awards awarded by Young Adult Library Services Association. The same novel won a Rave Award awarded by Wired. The American Library Association chose How to Survive Robot Uprising as the most popular paperback for Young Adults in 2007.

Wilson’s books have won and also been nominated for various awards. Wilson has worked as a research intern at the Xerox PARC, Microsoft Research, Intel Research Seattle, and Northrop Grumman. In 1996, Wilson graduated from High School, and in 2000 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of Tulsa. His famous award-winning novels include, Where’s My Jetpack?, How to Survive a Robot Uprising and How to Build a Robot Army. Apart from writing books, Wilson is a robotics engineer, television host and an editor to Resident Roboticist, a popular mechanics magazine.
